Contest Two

Okay, a little easier this week (we think). If you think you know the answer, DM us on Facebook or email at info@forlornhopepub.com. Winner gets a signed copy of the third book, The Widening Gyre, when published. (or, if you’re new to the series, we’ll substitute)

Here’s the question: In the days after Antietam (September 17, 1862), while Alexander Gardner sets up to take the first pictures of war dead Americans will ever see, William runs across a friend from Boston. He’s looking for his son, listed as mortally wounded.

Alexander Gardner’s original caption for this image: “A Lone Grave, on Battle-field of Antietam.”

The friend is a famous writer. He is looking for his 20-something son. The son is alive and will become famous himself. Who are they?
